Senior Shortened Day

Pine Ridge High School strongly believes that all students can achieve and be successful.  The following contract will allow a qualifying senior to shorten their school day to include only those courses needed for graduation.  To be eligible to participate in shortened school day students must meet ALL the following:

  • Students MUST be classified as a senior in good standing and minimum credits needed for graduation.
  • Students MUST have a cumulative unweighted GPA of a 2.50 or higher.
  • Students must be College and Career Ready measured by:
    • Earning a Dual Enrolled credit
    • Passing score for an Industry Certification, IB, Cambridge or AP tests.
  • Students must have a passing score on all graduation related testing requirements or provide state approved waiver.
  • Students MUST participate in at least 4 courses at Pine Ridge High School (not to include VOL/FLVS).
  • Dual enrollment exceptions: Ex. 1 (1 DE & 3 campus courses) Ex. 2 (2 DE & 2 campus courses) Ex. 3 (3 DE & 1 campus course)
  • Courses needed to meet the student’s graduation requirements MUST be included on the student’s schedule.
  • Courses selected MUST be in sequential order. For example, periods 1-4 or 4-7.
  • Courses WILL NOT be dropped after the end of Q1 or after Q3.
  • Due to course availability additional courses may be required to complete a student’s schedule.
    • We will make every effort to schedule the student during their preferred time of day, but due to scheduling conflicts we may not be able to do so.
  • Students MUST attend all the classes on the schedule. 
    • No more than 10 days absent during each semester (18 weeks).
  • Students MUST arrive on time.
    • No more than 4 tardies per semester (18 weeks) to their first class of the day.
  • Students MUST follow all school and district policies and procedures.
  • Students MUST pass all classes enrolled in each semester.
    • Failure to successfully pass all courses WILL result in additional courses being added to the student’s schedule.
  • Students are NOT PERMITED to be on campus unless they are scheduled to be on campus.
    • Students MUST have regular and dependable transportation to and from campus.
