WHAT IS THE CAMBRIDGE AICE PROGRAM?
...
The Cambridge AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) program is offered and overseen by Cambridge Assessment which is a part of The Cambridge University in London, England. Cambridge Assessment is the world’s largest provider of education programs and qualifications for 5-19-year-olds. They have been giving exams in some form since 1864. Cambridge programs are offered by 10,000 schools in over 160 countries. The AS and A level exams of the AICE program are taken in 134 countries around the world by over half a million students each year. The AICE program consists of a rigorous college and global-level curriculum taught at the high school level. In some countries the exams are used to determine if and where a student may attend college. Here in the United States, it is used to earn college credit and to help prepare students for rigorous college coursework.

Here at Pine Ridge, two tracks are offered in the AICE program. The AICE diploma cohort track is offered to those who wish to work towards earning the AICE diploma by fulfilling specific course and exam requirements. This track has an application process. The other is the open access track. This is for students that wish to take a rigorous, advanced course without pursuing the AICE diploma. Any student at Pine Ridge may take an AICE class and sit for the exam in order to earn the weighted GPA and also attempt earning college credit (as long as they meet the prerequisites for the class). These students are considered open-access students and are not required to be a member of the AICE diploma cohort (so no application is required for this track).
